Polar Plunge For Music

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

During this past Giving Tuesday, Friends of the Perry set a goal (and surpassed!) of raising $15,000 in matched funds to support their music education program in partnership with Boston Music Project. We're so grateful for all that Friends of the Perry do and those who

donated in support of our program to ensure that we can continue providing equitable high-quality music instruction to their students. In celebration of their successful fundraiser, the school hosted a community polar plunge in which school Principal Andrew Rollins, MA State Representative David Biele, and our very own Executive Director Christopher Schroeder took a dive in the nearby bay!

The Perry Plunge

On December 22nd, the Perry school community celebrated their fundraising success with hot chocolate, cookies, and of course, the polar plunge! Principal Rollins, Rep. Biele, and BMP Executive Schroeder plunged into the 45 degree bay while Perry school students cheered them on.

Our program at the Oliver Hazard Perry School, part of Boston Public Schools, provides weekly tuition-free in-school music education for the entire school population. BMP's programming at the Oliver Hazard Perry School was supported in part by EdVestors and BPS Arts Expansion. Our partnership with the Perry began during the 2021-2022 academic year, offering Early Childhood Music, Special Education Music, Brass & Winds Instrumental Instruction, and Digital Music Composition for students in K-6th grade.
