Emerging Leaders Council
The Emerging Leaders Council (ELC) is a new youth advisory board to the Boston Music Project (BMP), composed of young professionals who are passionate about music education, creative youth development, and community building. We are launching our inaugural cohort and invite you to help shape this new initiative from the ground up.
ELC members support BMP by:
1) Expanding BMP’s reach among young professionals and new audiences
2) Building a pipeline of future community leaders, advocates, and board members
3) Creating meaningful opportunities to mentor and engage with BMP students
As an ELC member, you’ll join a collaborative group of early-career leaders who care about arts access and community impact. You’ll gain hands-on nonprofit leadership experience, build relationships across sectors, and directly support the next generation of young musicians.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome young professionals (ages 22–35) across Boston’s business, tech, nonprofit, arts, and education sectors. ELC members are mission-driven, dependable, and energized by the belief that music can transform communities. They care deeply about equitable access to arts education and are eager to grow as leaders in the cultural sector.
What Will You Do?
-
The ELC will focus on a hands-on mentorship program where ELC members work with BMP students in small-group settings to support their musical growth.
-
ELC members will help prepare students for a culminating recital, where ELC members are also welcome to perform alongside their student ensembles. You’ll build close relationships with BMP kids, support their confidence an creativity, and have a direct, joyful impact on their early musical lives.
-
As part of the first-ever ELC cohort, you will also play a meaningful role in shaping the council’s long-term structure, culture, and direction.
