Solomon Caldwell | Director at Josiah Quincy Elementary & Hurley
Solomon Caldwell is an artist and musician originally from North Carolina, now based in Boston. He holds a Bachelor's of Music Degree in Classical Bass Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in the Contemporary Musical Arts program at the New England Conservatory of Music. In his artistic practice, Solomon can best be described as an: improvisor, chamber/orchestral musician, and curator.
During his undergraduate studies, Solomon was able to perform in a variety of settings including: opera orchestra, film scoring sessions, jazz combos, ballet orchestras, new music groups, etc. This range of experience not only informs his work as a performer but is partially what led him to explore music as an improvising musician. His interest in classical music has led him to attend summer festivals such as: Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, Anchorage Chamber Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, and most recently, the International Chamber Music Academy of Southern Germany.
When he's not teaching or performing, Solomon enjoys getting outdoors with friends as much as possible (as long as its warm), and finding new books to read.
